I am Not A Marketer I AM A Listener

I Didn’t Become a Marketer – I Became a Listener

I started my career in 2014.

Over the years, I’ve held titles across branding, marketing, business development, and management. I’ve worked across industries, with different teams, different personalities, different expectations.

On paper, it looks like a well-rounded career in communication.

But if I’m honest, none of those titles fully capture what I actually do.

Because the one thing I have always been drawn to ;the one thing that comes most naturally to me, is listening.

Not just hearing.

Listening.

Since I was a little girl, I loved stories. I would sit with older people and ask them to narrate their experiences. I would listen closely, visualize everything they described, and then retell those stories to my sister and my friends — in my own way.

I didn’t realize it then, but that was the beginning of everything.

Over time, this became my way of understanding the world.

And eventually, my way of working.

In every role I’ve held, every project I’ve touched, every founder I’ve worked with — my process has always been the same:

  1. I listen.
  2. I interpret.
  3. I translate.

And more often than not, the response I get is:

“Exactly. That’s what I’ve been trying to say.”

That’s when I realized something important.

I don’t need to become a better marketer.

I need to become more of who I already am.
